Tessa is coming to OK today!! The transfer from her foster mom to Gary is going to happen in Hays, KS in about 20 minutes. I'm so anxious to see her. It's been 2 months since I said I would give her a forever home. She has received wonderful care and love from this gentleman who had an empty barn and paddock. I'm so greatful to him for giving her such good care and love. I know she will probably miss him but we will spoil her rotten and she will have lots of horse friends to hang out with. I hope he doesn't miss her too much and helps foster another horse who needs a safe place to rehab. Thank you so much to everyone who was involved with saving her from slaughter and helping with her care.

This is what we saw in Mo last Thursday when we went home to get the Penske truck. Lots of water where it shouldn't be. The water was down a lot by afternoon and hopefully didn't do much damage to the farm. We arrived in OK Friday afternoon with a loaded Penske truck and horse trailer. Got all the stuff in storage until they can finally get our house ready. Really wish we had went with a different dealer on this but we liked the floorplan of this house so guess we will have to put up with delays a while longer. The large rainfall is no one's fault but the other delays are just a bunch of crap.

Yea, the 2nd 1/2 arrived yesterday. It is almost a whole house. It's beautiful inside. Probably another couple of weeks before we can actually move in though. Need water and electricity hooked to the house and don't know what those guys schedules are.

This is the back side of our new house. It came in yesterday. The front side is to come in today. We will see if this happens and if the crews are there is start working on getting it put together and set up. It's been one excuse after another getting this project underway. We are really getting sick of the delays. It's costing us lots of money to rent a huge truck and lots of money in gas running back and forth from OK to MO and back. We are ready to be able to move in. It had best happen this week! Buddy had to check out the house as soon as I told him it was our new home, lol.

This is Tessa. She is waiting in Colorado to come to OK when we get all moved. She has poor feet due to lack of care. It will take a year to get them in good shape. Yes, those are little wooden shoes you see. Oh yes, the house did NOT get moved yesterday. "Too muddy and windy". What the hay!!! Gary was just down there and he says it's not muddy. I'm beginning to get very close to losing my temper with them. Plans are still in place to move all the critters tomorrow. Looks like the horses maybe staying at Horse Feathers longer than I anticipated.

The sun finally came out this afternoon. Sonny and Star took a nap just outside my window. Our house should be transported to our land tomorrow if the winds aren't too high. We will be taking Sonny and Star down to Horse Feathers Wednesday. Wonder if they will be glad to see Hawk and Rose????? Buddy and the cat as well as our 2 dogs are going too. We will stay in our camper until the house is ready to move into. About a week is what we have been told. Then we will return to MO to get our stuff and beginning the actual move. Can't wait.

This is the boss of the place, Buddy. Bud is a Pygmy goat, however, he doesn't realize he is a Pygmy. He thinks he is a horse with horns. Tried to groom him this morning and all he wanted to do was play "butt-head". He is shedding like mad and the fine hair comes off him in bunches. One could spin it into wool if one was so inclined, lol. He wants all the attention when I'm out with the horses. He will rear up with his horns pointed right at me. I think he is trying to be intimidating but I just point my finger and tell him to stop. I don't like playing "butt-head". It hurts!

Well, got the word this morning that the house is on the road to Purcell, OK. Here's hoping the wind doesn't blow it off the road. Ours will be white with green shutters, to match the barn and shop.

Eight Belles lost her life yesterday. After coming in 2nd in the Kentucky Derby. I've never been a great fan of horse racing. Especially after learning where most of the TBs end up, on a truck bound for a slaughter plant. She was a beautiful filly. And now she is dead. It doesn't matter now that she came in 2nd and ran her best. She's gone. Rest in peace beautiful girl. Run free.

This is the guy that started it all. Excuse his fly mask. He has true appy eyes and should wear it during sunny days for the UV protection. Appys are prone to eye cancer and the vet recommended him wearing it a lot. He actually likes having it on.

New Blog

Welcome to the new blog on Hawk's Acres. While we haven't actually moved yet, we are close. Our manufactured home is finished and hopefully will be moved from Waco, TX to Purcell, OK on Monday of next week. Of course, the weather is a great factor in this. We can only hope it happens Monday. We are so anxious to get moved and get all the horses back together again. I think Sonny and Star miss Hawk and Rose. And they all have yet to meet Tessa who is waiting in Colorado to come to Oklahoma.
